Urban Arcade Senior Portraits
Our senior this week, Miss Sophia, wanted a shoot that was all about the places in the city she knows and loves. So we headed to Downtown Tacoma to make her urban arcade senior portraits dream come true! Everything about this session was tailor-made to include the places that bring Sophia joy and reflect the spectacular person she is! If you are looking for a senior portrait session to inspire your own creative shoot, this is the one for you! It’s impossible to see these photos and not want to join in on the fun!
Having Fun With Your Senior Photos
We started Sophia’s session at probably one of the most fun places I’ve shot at in the city: Dorky’s Arcade. This location offered us great outdoor portraits using its brick walls, game-themed artwork, and tall red doors. But it was even cooler once we finally got inside! Sophia was able to use the machines to pose with, even sitting on top of the pinball machine for a shot! We also took some seriously cute photos in front of the claw game. The dark background of the arcade with the pops of neon colors glowing from the machines was so retro and perfect for the start of our session!
A Bookend on Senior Year
From the arcade, our day took a much quieter turn once we headed to Sophia’s next favorite spot. King’s Books is a well-known and much-loved independent bookstore in Downtown Tacoma that has been around since April 2000. Sophia has spent a lot of time here over the years, so we knew this had to be a stop on our senior portrait tour. She changed into jeans and a brown button-up sweater with a bookbag and her latest reads to match the cozy atmosphere. Something about rows and rows of books that just make you want to take endless photos! And Sophia absolutely rocked every last one!
Tacoma Rooftop Portraits
We had a blast wandering around Downtown together. Since we went on foot from each location, anytime we found a place we liked, we stopped and took some photos. This is how we ended our night on the roof! Rooftop portraits, particularly in parking garages, have been one of my favorites to shoot for seniors who want an urban look to their session. You can’t have the full sense of the city without getting those rooftop views. In her bright striped sweater, Sophia was still the star of the show and we got some gorgeous blue skies and white clouds to compliment her look! All in all, the best way to ensure your senior portrait session is a success is to make sure it fits your personality. And I think Sophia absolutely nailed it!
