Fun Studio Portraits

Class of 2023 Model Team member, Miss Abby, came into our Downtown Tacoma location to do some fun studio portraits! Abby is a home-schooled senior who I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know this past year through our team shoots and bonding days. She is also a ballet dancer! And *drum roll* just got her braces off!! She wanted some elegant studio time to play and express her ballerina self, and I was more than happy to make this happen!

Expressing Your Talents

We all have a creative side to us that is yearning to be expressed. In the hustle and bustle of life, it can be hard to find times to showcase those talents. Especially during senior year, it makes me so happy to be able to document these sides of my seniors’ personalities. Abby is a great student, a friend to her teammates, and such a hard worker! She actually works at the new FIKA coffee house at Farm 12! Where I have had the pleasure of seeing her in action (she’s a whiz behind the register and espresso machine!) But more than that, I love creating space for these girls to express their softer side too. Take a break from the stresses of senior year’s expectations and applications and just be free to shine!

Senior Ballerina Showcase

For Abby’s sessions, we went for a delicate ballet look to show off her years of practice in the studio. She borrowed one of the skirts from the Style Closet and paired it with a white eyelet tank top. Every time I see the gorgeous greyish-blue tones of the skirt, I can’t help but think of the overcast PNW skies we know and love here in Western Washington. With the bright studio background, it was a great combo! Her fellow senior and Model Team member, Miss Mallory, did her makeup for this shoot! Mallory has been fine-tuning her skills as a makeup artist and it is so fun to see these girls helping each other out! The subtle makeup look they went with was exactly what this session called for! 

A Year on the Model Team

Senior year is a time of immense growth and change for high schoolers. The same is true for my model team girls. During their year, I get to witness their confidence and personalities grow right in front of the camera. From the first photo shoot, to now, you can see Abby is much more poised and comfortable with herself and with being photographed! Just look at that gorgeous new smile!! Anyone who has braces knows the excitement of getting them off and getting to see your bright, big smile in the mirror. Especially when it is your senior year, it couldn’t come fast enough!! Miss Abby is such a wonderful part of the Class of 2023, and I am so happy we got to have this time together in the studio to let her creativity shine!
