Grunge Senior Portraits in Tacoma | Amanda Howse Photography
This lovely dancer decided she wanted grunge senior portraits in Tacoma, and I am so grateful that she trusted me to bring her vision to life. I love scouting out new locations and finding the perfect spots for senior portraits in Tacoma. We found some gems for Miss Graci’s session in late September, and we had the perfect weather. She wanted urban, edgy vibes with graffiti in the city.
Washington Grunge Scene
Seattle is known for its grunge history, and downtown Tacoma still has those vibes. From the train tracks to the city alleys, there is so much personality in Tacoma. We started out in Opera Alley, right outside of my studio where Graci had her hair and makeup done by my pro stylist, Tracie. The city sidewalks and alleys are the perfect setting for urban senior portraits with a grunge vibe.
We also stopped by Stadium High School, which has such awesome architecture. And then we explored a cool church in Tacoma. Graci, her mom, my assistant, and I had so much fun together chasing the light, exploring different areas, and getting grungy scenes. Graci is a self-described daredevil and I love how bold she was for her session.
Senior Portraits for Dancers
Miss Graci was referred to me by other dancers I’ve shot in the past (including one on the AHP Model Team, Miss Chloe). I simply love getting to know my seniors, and it means so much to me when they refer their friends to me. It’s so important to small businesses, and such an ah-mazing way to show support. Word of mouth and positive reviews make all the difference!
I have worked with all different kinds of athletes as a senior portrait photographer, and I love incorporating what my seniors are passionate about into their sessions. Graci’s dance background served as inspiration for different poses.
Edgy Outfits for Senior Portraits
Miss Graci loves her red hair, and she has an edgy style that fit perfectly with the grunge theme of her session. She chose a flowy black tulle dress trimmed with lace, and she rocked a pair of statement earrings. One of her favorite things to wear is a classic black leather jacket, which she paired with a white crop top and striped pants.
No grunge-inspired senior portrait session would be complete without a flannel. Graci wore hers with distressed jeans. Her nose ring was the best accessory for this ‘90s look. She ended the session with a crimson jacket that matched her gorgeous hair.
