Rustic Fort Steilacoom Senior Portraits

These rustic Fort Steilacoom senior portraits have all the summer inspiration you could need! Gracie wanted her session to be in the summer with warm weather and gorgeous dry tall grass, so we opted for outdoor portraits at Ft. Stilly. This large public park has the most beautiful open fields, a small lake, and a red barn. It is one of the best outdoor locations for senior portraits.

Be Yourself

I met miss Gracie when she was in the 10th grade through her older sister. I did their family portraits and she modeled for me! It has been so much fun getting to know her, and I was so excited when she applied for the model team.

Gracie has gorgeous long hair. She is lucky enough to have a mom as a hairstylist, so she came to her session with fresh highlights! Gracie’s long hair is part of her signature look. We always recommend that seniors avoid doing anything drastic to their hair before senior portraits. You want to feel like yourself, so resist the urge to chop all your hair off or try a totally different color right before your session. Gracie wore her hair down in loose curls for her rustic senior portraits and she looked beautiful.

Rustic Style

This girl had the best outfits, too! She wore a gorgeous red top that was the perfect pop of bright color in the Ft. Stilly fields. I love the contrast. Her denim mini skirt paired perfectly with the red top and a neutral wrap blouse! We also headed to the lake for some portraits by the water, where Gracie swapped out the bold red for a white blouse and striped pants. I love seeing all the different outfits my seniors choose; each of them has a unique style that is all their own.

From the wood fencing in Fort Steilacoom to the grassy fields and trees, Gracie’s rustic style fit right in. We brought along a blanket for a few picnic-inspired portraits and followed the gorgeous summer light. Gracie and I had so much fun wandering around the area!

Future Plans

Gracie plans on studying nursing, and I know she will be an amazing nurse. She is so hardworking and managed to balance AP classes, softball, and a job as a barista during her senior year. She is so positive and encouraging. Her confidence is inspiring and I cannot wait to see all that she accomplishes!
