Fall Senior Guy Portraits
We put a rush on these fall senior guy portraits for Nick, our Class of 2023 graduate. I know his Aunt and was so excited when he needed his senior photos done STAT. We have all been in that position before. More often than not, deadlines show up way quicker than planned!! But this time around, we got to work some magic for Nick and his family. Luckily, senior guys tend to be pretty laid back about their portraits, and Nick was so fun and easy to work with!
Wright Park Fall Session
We met Nick and his mother at Wright Park in Tacoma. Wright Park is a Tacoma photography gem that I haven’t used for a few years. With 27 acres of land, filled with over 600 trees, I knew this would be the best senior portrait location for our fall photos. We had a sunny, late fall day, and the light was simply perfect!! Our session was planned for Thanksgiving weekend, and the fall leaves were just starting to disappear. We couldn’t have picked a better time! If you are looking to book a fall session of your own, don’t forget to check out the end of the blog for the best dates to plan fall senior portraits with me!
Keeping it Simple For Senior Portraits
Nick elected to keep it simple for his senior looks, with only one shirt and his trusty white undershirt for his outfit changes. Sometimes simple is the best way to go for senior portraits! A clean, wrinkle-free shirt and dark jeans are a classic look for guys. And, it pictures really well too! Nick is very into working out, so we HAD to get some photos showing off all this football player’s hard work in the gym. Fun poses like this really highlight our senior’s passions and personality and it is a great way to keep our sessions light-hearted and relaxed! After all, who wants a boring senior session?? Not us!
Parent’s Role in Senior Sessions
One of my favorite parts of our senior sessions is getting to know the senior’s parents too. A lot of moms and dads worry about what their role should be during the shoot. Wondering if they are doing enough, or are in the way. My best advice for parents is simple: not to worry. I know, that’s easier said than done. However, showing up for your senior is really the best thing you can do! I sometimes have parents help by being lighting assistants, or making sure their kid’s clothes are prepped for the next outfit change. But the biggest help of all, is all the love and support you already give them! To thank you for this, I love getting a few shots of the parents with their babies. Nick’s Mom came along on his shoot and was dressed so well. Of course, she hopped into a few photos also! The perfect way to end a session! Now if only it made saying goodbye at the end of the year any easier!
