Senior Guy Studio Portraits
Did you know I photograph all high school seniors, not just our lovely AHP ladies? While most of my clients are senior girls, I love getting referrals for senior guy studio portraits too! It is so important that everyone gets to enjoy their senior photo experience, and that includes the guys. Cameron was referred to me by our very own class of 2022 Model Team member, Miss Lexie. He came down to Studio253 this April for a fun, colorful shoot in Opera Alley and he had the best style. Check it out below! It was a blast shooting with him!
Rocking Your Studio Session
We did Cameron’s April session in the urban area in and around Studio253 in downtown Tacoma. We began in the studio, where Cameron shocked us all in the most incredible purple suit I’d ever seen! Complete with an embroidered rose pattern and awesome accent buttons. As someone who loves purple, I could not wait to photograph him and see how great the suit popped on camera! And boy did he rock it. Booking the studio is always a great way to start off your senior session and is the perfect place to wear your more dressy senior outfits before changing into more casual looks for outdoor shots.
When Your Cousin is the Best Portrait Assistant
Cameron changed out of his suit and we ventured out to Opera Alley. We walked one block down to a parking garage and stopped for some photographs there too. We got lucky and had the most perfect weather all day long! Not a raindrop in sight. Cameron’s cousin, Lexie, who knows a thing or two about taking AH-mazing photos, came along to assist him. One of her senior portraits was featured in the Fall 2022 issue of Senior Poise Magazine (you can check out her AHP summer session on the blog post here!). Lexie was a great help during the shoot, and we were able to get tons of great portraits with the colorful downtown backgrounds. I love when family members come and support their seniors! And it’s so fun when it is an AHP alum!
How to Style Senior Guys
While not all senior guys are pumped about finding outfits for their senior portraits, it is still important to have style! With every portrait session, I want my seniors to feel confident and comfortable. Part of this is making sure they like the way they look. Just like with the senior girls, we want to ensure our guys are wearing outfits and styles that are true to them. It is easy to add dimension to your everyday looks as well, by accessorizing. Cameron did a great job of this! Watches, hats, sunglasses, and even necklaces are great items to add to an outfit to add visual layers that look great on camera. Cameron also switched up his hairstyle and shoes to create new looks even while wearing simple, T-shirts and pants.
