This Fort Steilacoom senior portrait session is all about summer vibes and classic style! This awesome spot is one of my favorite locations for summer sessions! It is playfully called Ft. Stilly and is so much fun to explore. I was so excited when Whitney decided to have her summer session here! She is a 2020 AHP Model Team Member and I am so grateful to have her on the team. She showed up with flawless makeup and a plan of attack for her outfit choices! We matched each outfit with the different spots we chose for her portraits.
Fort Steilacoom Senior Portrait Session with Summer Sunlight
The Fort Steilacoom sunlight did not disappoint for Whitney’s senior portrait session! Oh. Em. Gee. She wore the best little white summer dress – perfect for photos in the tall grass (which I like to refer to as wheat, or tufted grass when it grows those fuzzy pieces on the top LOL!). We even found a field of the biggest dandelions I have ever seen! Whitney made sure to make a wish on one that was as big as her head!!
Professional Hair & Makeup for Senior Portraits
Whitney is part Colombian, and her dark hair just popped with the white dress and yummy sunlight. She is such a stunner! Whitney wanted a simple look for her makeup and hair. Our pro hair and makeup artists are all about making you look natural while still feeling glam. Whitney’s hair & makeup was done by AHP team member Kara of Inspired Radiance Beauty. Whitney wanted to wear her hair how she does every day, but she did go a little crazy with a side part instead of a center one! I love being able to offer professional hair and makeup for my senior portrait sessions! It makes such a difference and gives an added boost of confidence. And I am happy to announce that with my new 2019 pricing, professional hair and makeup is included for each session.
Bring Mom Along
Whitney’s mom stepped up to the task of making Whitney look extra good by holding the reflector and being a helper extraordinaire! So many of my seniors bring their moms to their portrait session day and I love it, especially when the moms help out! For seniors, it’s such an important time – but also for parents! They want to be part of capturing this special moment in time.
Whitney’s biggest role models are her mom and dad. They inspire her to be the best that she can through hard work. Their love story has also shown her what to hope for in the future! In ten years she hopes to be a nurse, married with kids! She has such a bright future ahead of her and it’s so sweet to see how she looks up to her parents.
A Pop of Color
I always recommend bringing a pop of color to your senior portrait session! Whitney brought a bold red dress that was perfect. She paired all her outfits with dainty jewelry, which fit her minimalist style and quiet personality. The looks she chose for her senior portraits were timeless! I love that she chose a variety of outfits to feel dressed up and also laid-back and casual. A white crop top with jeans is a classic look. And you can never go wrong with a little white dress for summer and a jean jacket. Layers and jewelry can easily change up a look!
Whitney’s advice for senior portraits: “Be yourself in your photos. Wear your own style and have your hair styled how you would like it. You want to be comfortable in the way you look in photos!” I couldn’t agree more!! Whitney followed her own advice for her senior portraits and the result was gorgeous!
