Senior Photos for Guys in Tacoma
It’s rare that I get to do senior photos for guys in Tacoma, but occasionally a previous client will refer their brother, boyfriend, or son to me. That was the case for Ryer! I did his sister’s senior portraits before him, and I have known the family for a long time. At some point or another, I have taken portraits of all the kids or cousins in the family. I simply love repeat clients and seeing families grow over the years.
For Ryer’s senior session, we headed to Fort Steilacoom in early August and it was an awesome day. Summer senior portraits in the PNW usually mean warm weather and plenty of sunlight. Being outdoors here is ah-mazing, and Ryer picked the perfect spot for his summer session.
Fort Steilacoom Senior Portraits
Some of you may know how much I love Fort Stilly for summer senior portraits. The park has such a rustic vibe, and there is so much space to explore! It’s the perfect spot for chasing the sunlight (or even re-enacting your favorite country music video). There are red barns, wood fences, and tall fields of grass you might mistake for wheat. Ryer fit right into the landscape with his classic style.
Classic Senior Portrait Outfits for Guys
Guys do not have to feel boring or stuffy in their senior portrait outfits! Ryer stayed true to his style with distressed jeans, white Converse, and T-shirts. He kicked things off with a white tee and red flannel and accessorized with a simple gold chain. And he wasn’t afraid to rock a bold yellow shirt and ripped denim. He styled his hair perfectly, too. This guy has a modern look, but I know that what he wore will still be in style when he looks back at his photos in the years to come.
Poses for Senior Portraits
With every portrait session, I want my seniors to feel confident and comfortable. I direct them with natural poses that add interest to their portraits and show them in their best light. Ryer did a great job of being a model during his portrait session, with a cool, casual vibe for each pose. We walked along the dirt paths, had him sit on the wood fencing, and pose by the water. Ryer has a serious look about him, but we still got him to smile throughout his session.
