Making Your Life Easier, One Photo at a Time
If you’ve worked with me before, you know that each year I offer a variety of cap and gown sessions for high school (or college!) seniors and their friends in the Seattle-Tacoma area. And if you haven’t worked with me, I’m so happy you’ve found this post! I love making seniors and their families’ lives easier by providing them with high-quality images in a timely manner and smooth process. After all, who has time to wait months for their photos?? Not me, and not busy families. My cap and gown portrait sessions are made to be easy breezy and get you the gorgeous photos you deserve without all the stress. Rain or shine, we can make your photos happen!
Message Your Photographer ASAP!
First things first: book your timeslot with your senior photographer now! As I said before, spring is when everything kicks into high gear, and getting time set aside early is the first step in making sure your senior’s portraits turn out perfect. So I’ll wait while you send them that email/text now…. Great work! And if you just sent a message to me (hint hint), I will get back to you in just one second! Now that you’ve got the hard part out of the way, we can move on to the fun part: planning what to wear during your shoot!
What to Bring to Your Cap and Gown Portraits
Cap and gown portraits are different from your typical senior photos because they are all about graduation. Which makes prepping for them a lot easier! The stars of the show are, you guessed it, the cap and gown! While many people choose to bring a selection of college gear for the university they will be attending come fall (such a fun idea), having just one outfit is all you really need to be prepared for your shoot. Most girls wear dresses under their gowns, but you can also pick out a fun jumpsuit or romper that shows your style. If you do end up selecting multiple outfits, we have a changing tent so you can swap outfits easily! No matter what you choose to wear, being comfortable and confident is the most important part. The second, making sure your gown is ironed and wrinkle-free for portrait day! Parents can be a big help with that part!
When in Doubt, Have Fun!
My final tip is simply to have fun! Senior year is all about making memories that will last a lifetime. And these photos will last even longer. So make sure you enjoy your time! Invite your BFF to join you and get some portraits taken together! Decorate your cap with something that brings a smile to your face or a quote that has been meaningful to you. Have fun with your hair and makeup, but don’t go crazy. Whatever it is that makes this moment special, my advice is to embrace it. Because before you know it, it will be time to say your goodbyes. Plus, your portraits will look so much better with an authentic smile! For more “week of” tips to help you feel prepped and ready come photo time, you can check out my last year’s post, linked here.
