Senior Photo Education in Arizona
If you know me, you know I love brushing up on my photography skills. Last year, I continued my senior photo education in Arizona! I prioritize mentor work every year as a way to keep my photography game sharp, grow my business, and for a million other great reasons that come from continued learning! For 2022, my mentor had our group do a workshop weekend in Scottsdale, AZ. And it was so much fun!! If you’ve never been, this is your sign to go! Scottsdale is part of East Arizona, surrounded by a beautiful desert landscape, which you’ll get a taste of from the photos below!
Escaping the WA Cold
Arizona is known for its endless sunshine and warmth! Which you could say is just a bit different from what to expect from Washington in January. We were so ready to escape the rainy winter weather and get some much-needed sunshine and vitamin D in AZ! But, that was not in the cards…facepalm. We got to experience the crazy desert rain and overcast skies. So much for our sunshine plans! Luckily for us, the time with friends and hours of learning made up for it! And overcast skies are my photography specialty!
Red Rock Desert Portraits
Part of the workshop, since it’s designed for senior portraits, is, of course, a shooting segment! For this shoot, we ventured out into the desert at a famous location known for its red rocks and cacti. It is so fun getting to shoot at locations completely different from the PNW and working with new models and stylists. All the models from the workshop were styled by Sean Brown Productions and Senior Photo Education (linked below). Their fun editorial style was amazing to see and be a part of! I try so hard to avoid stagnation in my work, and days like this are key to sparking creativity and keeping my work fresh!
Building a Business that Works (and Plays) For You
As a solo Boss Babe, it’s important for me to find ways of growing and connecting with other people. I am an extrovert through and through, which makes solo work a challenge! To balance this, I make sure to fill my schedule with fun opportunities that connect me with the community, other professionals, and of course, my wonderful clients! While in AZ, I got to take photos with a few of my past girls and even meet one of my interns for lunch. Which I just loved! Trips like these fill my cup and are a way for me to rejuvenate from the natural stresses of life. For all business owners, I think this is SO important! Finding what works for you and making time for fun is just as important as how hard you work. So go ahead, book that AZ weekend! But first, soak up some desert inspo from these fun photos!
