PUSH 2022

I attended the PUSH 2022 conference in Austin, Texas this past November! As the name suggests, this 3-day event was all about pushing the limits on our skills and creativity as photographers. Attending these workshops is one of the ways I continue to grow and be the best senior photographer for my clients! And I had so much fun doing it! From meeting tons of other senior photogs to catching up with past friends, hearing all the AH-mazing advice from the guest speakers, talking shop, learning new skills, seeing all the awesome styled shoots and so much more! It is always a blast to be a part of such great events, and this year was no different! If only all self-improvement was this much fun! 

Photog Community Building

The totally cute boutique hotel the conference chose for its 7th year was divine. Located near the Domain in Austin, The LoneStar Court hotel was seconds away from an array of fun shops, food trucks, and endless activities. Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep! One of the best parts (being the social extrovert that I am!) was making new friends with people from all over the US. There were some extremely talented models selected for the styled shoots (there were even guys featured this year too!). We all had a blast chatting after hours by the fire pits, making s’mores, and getting to know one another. Sharing these days with like-minded photogs while geeking out over gear, shooting pods, classes, and meeting our photog “crushes”, always leaves me feeling strong and refreshed. Ready to try out my new ideas! 

Keeping up With Current Trends

There have been times in my life, as I am sure there have been in yours, where you wonder if you’re on the right path, doing what you’re supposed to be doing. For me, I know that when my mind is racing 300 mph and I can’t sleep from pure excitement, I am just where I’m supposed to be! I went away from the conference with a heart full of excitement about the latest trends and a head full of new ideas and skills that I couldn’t wait to bring back home to WA. Below are just a few of the photos I snapped during the styled model sessions! In my work, I am always pushing myself to try new things and hold myself to the highest standards. This involves hours of research, time in the studio, and connecting with others in the photography world. But the results pay off!

Hot 100 Senior Photographer

This year, I submitted a selection of my senior portraits to the Hot 100 Senior Style Guide competition. There were 9,111 submissions!! Despite it being my first time, I won in multiple categories with multiple photos!!! A panel of my peers also selected me for the community choice award. How exciting is that?? Many fantastic publications feature senior photographers, inspire others in the industry, and set the bar for photographers. I am beyond excited to be a part of these publications that let me share my passion for photography with all of you in my AH-mazing AHP community! I can’t wait to see what this next year holds!
