Clouds Studio Portraits 

The Class of 2024 got together for the first time at Studio253 this month to shoot these Clouds Studio Portraits! Our studio is such a special part of AHP. Getting to introduce our new group of senior models to the space is always a great day! It’s the first time they will get to check out the space they will be spending so much time in for the next year. The first time for them to explore the famous Style Closet. And the first time trying out my fun props and lights! But more than that, it is a chance to welcome them into a space where they can feel comfortable expressing themselves. To know they are fully supported and surrounded by people who are happy to have them there! That is what our Model Team is all about! 

First Day in Studio253!

Though it was the first day for the girls at our fun studio space, it was completely transformed from its normal look. We took the girls from the hustle of downtown Tacoma and transported them right into the clouds! By the time they arrived, we had set up tons of fluffy “clouds” to be the highlight of our shoot. Besides our lovely models of course! With just the large, full-length windows, we were able to get tons of natural light into the studio, which was perfect for the airy, natural feel we wanted for this part of the shoot. I loved seeing how well the girls got along, and how much fun we had playing around in the clouds! I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wanted to be able to frolic among the clouds. Until scientists figure that out, the studio ones will have to do! 

All About the ‘80s

Once we got all the shots we wanted from our clouds studio portraits set, we switched gears! I brought out my fun lighting prop, the lightsaber, and we got to shooting! The results were totally ‘80s! With the bold neon colors and black background, it was a blast from the past! What was so cool about this shoot, was how easily the girls transitioned from the bright and light photoshoot, full of natural light, to this much darker and artificially lit setup. Though we were still in a studio setting, the girls did a great job pivoting from one style to the next. And each look turned out SO incredible! I am so happy they trust me as their photographer to guide them during these sessions. That’s rule number one of Model Team! Well, maybe not one, but it makes the top five for sure! 

Model Team: A Year to Remember

The real first rule of Model Team is much better: have fun! I created this team as a way to build a community for senior girls. By bringing together groups of AH-mazing young women from the Seattle-Tacoma area, that might not otherwise get a chance to meet, we are able to grow a whole network of support and friendship! Two things you can never have enough of. One of the best parts about senior year is the memories we make with the people we love! So why not have a year full of them?? Whether you are looking for more friends, or want to bring your BFF along with you, joining the Model Team is a senior experience you don’t want to miss out on!
