Tacoma Summer Senior Session
This Tacoma summer senior session will get you inspired for your own. I met Miss Brynn when she tagged along to a shoot with her older sister, Brooke, who was a Class of 2019 Model Team member, and she shared all the tips with her younger sister to have a successful senior year. You can see Brooke’s senior portrait session featured on the blog here.
Brynn was just a sophomore when we met, and I am so grateful I have gotten to know her over the past couple of years! Like her older sister, Brynn is an AHP Model Team girl. She was such an ah-mazing addition to the Class of 2021 team. She is always smiling, happy, and so much fun to be around.
Spending Time with the Model Team Girls
I host monthly portrait sessions for the AHP Model Team, which gives me a chance to get to know them. It also gives them time to get to know each other. The AHP Model Team is a unique experience. It’s all about the girls and their senior year! I want to make sure they are confident throughout their portrait sessions and beyond.
Brynn came along to many senior sessions last summer and helped as my lighting assistant. She learned so much about posing, lighting, and being behind the scenes. This prepared her for her own session at UW Tacoma. This girl just shines in front of the camera, and I am so excited to share more from her session.
Getting to Know Brynn
There is so much to love about this boss babe and athlete! She is passionate about school and sports, and she plays both softball and volleyball. Brynn was also ASB Government Treasurer at Bonney Lake High School. She balanced it all with grace, and I just loved seeing how hard-working and determined she was throughout her senior year.
Brynn wanted her session to be fun and relaxed. We worked together to pick the best locations, put together a playlist of her favorite songs, and style her outfits.
Props and Personal Items to Bring to Your Session
One of Brynn’s biggest accomplishments was winning State her freshman year of high school. Her athletic career is full of wins, and she wanted her senior portraits to reflect how passionate she is about softball. She chose to wear her state ring and letter jacket, and she brought along her softball glove for a few of her portraits. I simply loved capturing Brynn in her element – with a smile on her face and a softball in hand.
If you want to bring props or personal items to your session, let’s make it happen! I want your senior portraits to be a reflection of who you are and what you have accomplished. Whether you are a cheerleader, gymnast, softball player, or musician, we can find ways to incorporate your passion into your senior portraits.
Bring a Parent to Your Session
Brynn is inspired every day by her mom, who works extremely hard to help those around her while supporting her family. She brought her mom along to her senior portrait session, so of course, we had to sneak in some mother-daughter portraits. I always remind my seniors that this exciting time in their lives is also a huge deal for their parents. They’ve watched you grow, supported you throughout your education, and want to be part of the celebration of it all. Bringing them along to your session shows that you want them to feel included in your accomplishments.
You can also bring a bestie or a sibling to cheer you on throughout your session. Having an extra person also comes in handy for lighting. I love seeing your friends and family step up to hold a reflector, boost your confidence, and keep you laughing throughout your session.
Exploring Tacoma in the Summer
Miss Brynn and I had so much fun exploring Tacoma for her summer senior session. She posed in front of modern architecture in the coziest knit top, jeans, and nude wedges, And for the gorgeous rose garden, she wore a light blue sundress that complemented the bright blooms perfectly. We strolled down to Owen Beach for a few barefoot portraits in the water.
There is so much to explore around Tacoma, and I am so grateful to Miss Brynn for trusting me to capture this exciting time in her life.
