Studio 253 Portrait Sessions in Tacoma
I love shooting Tacoma senior portraits and adventuring with seniors all throughout the city! But I also love a great indoor session and have the perfect spot if that’s what we decide to do for your senior session! Studio 253 is my studio in the heart of the theatre district in downtown Tacoma. It has gorgeous light and so much character! Some of my favorite photos have been from Studio 253 senior portrait sessions!
The entire studio is 1800 square feet with a 624 square foot shooting space abundant with natural light from an entire wall of windows. I’m so excited to give you a mini-tour of the studio and let you know all about why this is the best spot for indoor senior portraits in Tacoma! And if we decide to take your session outside, we’re just steps away from Opera Alley, The Pantages, and the Spanish Steps.
The Waiting Area
Once you enter the studio, you will find yourself in our lobby and waiting area! We keep this area stocked with treats, snacks, and a hot/cold beverage selection. If you know me, you know I don’t want you to be hangry during your session LOL! Shooting at the studio has the ah-mazing advantage of the AHP style closet and Hair & Makeup Room.
The AHP Style Closet
As a Tacoma senior photographer, I love shooting styled fashion sessions! But I noticed that most high school seniors don’t have a lot of “fashion”-type clothing (or furry jackets – LOL!). So I created the AHP Style Closet for my seniors to borrow from for their shoots! Every month, I invest in new and trendy outfits, so the closet is constantly growing! I love featuring fun garments from brands like Free People, Kendall + Kylie, Jessica Simpson, Target, and Francesca’s. We also take donations, including prom dresses, high heel shoes, graduation caps and gowns, and more!
There is a variety of sizes in clothing so everyone can find something! Earrings, accessories, and hats are a great way to switch up your look without changing your whole outfit! You can also add a fur coat or sunglasses for a cool vibe. You can try it all on in the wardrobe room and wear any of the items during your senior portrait session. And if you ever want to come “play” in the studio, I offer model sessions!
Get Glam in the Hair and Makeup Room
We have a dedicated hair & makeup room where our pro Hair and Makeup Artists (HMUAs) will give you an ah-mazing experience. Our HMUAs coordinate your look with your skin tones and outfits that you bring for your session (or borrow from the AHP Style Closet!). They know exactly which products to use for camera-ready makeup – and yes, there IS a difference! They are also trained on what will stay on your face, what products are worth the extra money, which foundations and highlighters photograph the best, and which fake lashes to use! And at the end of the glam sessions, our seniors still look like themselves, but with their natural beauty and favorite features enhanced! I love that we can offer this service to our seniors to take a little stress out of their big day in front of the cameras. Who doesn’t love to be pampered??
Another perk of getting ready in the studio: we have a “Beats” wireless speaker that you can connect to! So, be sure to come with your playlist all ready to go on your iPhone. Pick songs that will get you in the mood for an awesome afternoon that is centered entirely around you!!
Natural Light
Studio 253 has so much charm. It is a 100-year old building with natural wood floors. The wall of windows let in gorgeous natural light, even on rainy PNW days! Soft, sheer white curtains soften the light if needed. And I love seeing my seniors sneak a couple of selfies in this light when they check out the studio! It’s so hard to resist!!!
The Client Lounge
After your session, we’ll meet in the Client Lounge to design your senior portrait products. It is so important to me that my seniors (and their families!) have tangible products to remember this amazing time in their lives! Offering albums and prints gives me a chance to make sure your senior photos aren’t just saved on your phone or computer and never looked at again. We design these products together to showcase your favorite photos! You’ll be able to look back on your session for years to come.
